HDR... continues

I passed by it so often I never really did take notice. Until that day. So glad I did .

A shout-out to all that had visited / commented ~ You are the coolest !! . <3

Note: No, I did not descend into the drain la . I used wide angle lens .

Update @ 19th.July 2006:
Not sure if this can be called a tutorial but here goes:
Step 1: Gotta create an HDR image.
Refer to this link which I’m currently using http://www.earthboundlight.com/phototips/photoshop-cs2-hdr-32bit.html to create HDR images. It’s a bit long but necessary nonetheless. Fahamkan betul2 ya.

Step 2: Editings:
Once you’ve got the HDR image, start the editings. Here are the major areas which I edit.
1) Tones and highlights
2) Levels.
3) Curves. I’m not really that good at this actually so the tweak is usually very negligeble. But I did it anyway most times as I needed the practise.
4) Saturations.
5) Selective colours.
Tips:
a) Whats important here is the cross processings. For example after adjusting the tones, then the levels, you can always go back to tones adjustments and enhance the image further. Keep going back and forth. That’s my naïve definition of cross processing la .
b) Just play around with the lever / bar for each of the edit area. Try doing from one extreme to the other so that you can see the benefits of an HDR image. The range is amazing.
c) When doing the ‘Saturations’ and ‘Selective colours’ be sure to try the adjustments for red together with yellow. Also green with yellow. Try them out and you’ll see what I mean.
Ok, now I know it gets frustrating when the editings for 1 to 5 are not mentioned in detail. But due to good reasons. Different image needs different editings. Hence tip b) is important. Plus, kang berjela2 la pulak tutorials ni .

Step 3: Finishing touches:
These involve the following, apply whenever you feel necessary:
1) Croppings
2) Leveling
3) Framing
4) Size reduction
5) Others like converting to b&w or sepia or what have you.
6) Tagging

Step 4: Be very patient:
Getting the image just right the first time is not easy. Keep at it till you get what you’re after.
Tips:
a) Must must must do the first step correctly. Just follow the instructions diligently and you’ll not get it wrong, InsyaAllah.
b) Even before you start, you must already have in your mind how the image will look like, at least some rough idea how it will, and target towards achieving that. Otherwise you will spend way too long during the editing process than necessary.

Hope the above helps. Please do not hesitate to ask if you need further clarifications. [Aiyaa, closing sentence ni cam dalam surat formal la pulak ].

rajinnya edit.. iskisk.. camner edit sumer ni.. buat tutorial laa.. leh? nak blajarr... Sat 15-Jul-2006 16:11

dell ~ Thks dell . Tutorial? Ok, I'll try to put something together and update soon, k? Thks for the request .

f i q u e ~ That's what an HDR image can present to you . You can bring out all parts of your image for almost all/different exposures and have them all 'out' at the same time in one image.
Was I in the drain? Goodness, No. I mean, I love photography but not that much la . Actually, this big drain runs across a road on which I am on top of and continues on the other side. I used my wide angle and my camera was perched on a tripod placed as close as possible to the edge.

* J u l i a * ~ Thks Cik Julia . For the HDR thing, I've done experimentations on colours, then shades/tones. For this latest entry, I tried doing something that combines both, albeit having just about 4 or 5 colours to play with .

again, a very surreal collection of images. would i be correct in saying that you added a bit of glow to the pictures? it's this bit that actually makes the images look like they're paintings instead of pictures from a camera. kudos also for making a normal subject look extraordinary. i guess you've got the wide angle in your pocket already, eh? i'm making use of the filter as well for some of my shots, but i don't think my distortion is as severe as yours, from what i remember. adiet ~ Hey, thks bro. At first that sepia image was really flat. Then I deepened the tones and adjust the highlights, levels and a bit of curve (actually I hate using the curve function cause I suck at it, big time. Could never find the use for it. Urgghh... heh heh... maaf ya, lepaskan frustration pulak.. ).

aldisued ~ Autumn? Ooo... excellent idea. Tapi tak tau camner nak buat . Any tips? Thks aldisued.

hanis ~ Thks dear. (Oh shish... I sound like an old fart calling people 'dear'. Ok must stop being overly 'old'..hehe... ). Thks Hanis. Eh, you feel like you're there in a dream too. Me too. No kidding. I did not 'see' it at first but once my editing was completed it felt like a deja vu. And to make it even spookier, another friend of mine said the same thing. Strange huh? (insert the music from 'Twillight Zone' here).

kenterong ~ Thanks kenterong. Yep, a bit of glow was added to give it that punch, as I call it . I mean, to me, the non-glowed are good enough but bila add glow tu cam nampak lagi elok la pulak . Pada pandangan mata saya la. Ya syukurrr...

nyonyacyber ~ Thank you Nyonya C .

Digitaldome Frogtography ~ Bring it on brother... hehe... .

e c a h ~ Saya atas jalan raya, tak turun dlm longkang tu pun. Tak sanggup la sampai nak turun2 dlm tu. Not only is it big, but deep too. And very unsanitary . Longkang tu sloped downwards and run underneath the road I am standing on.

palik ~ Haha... tu memang longkang besar kat Bukit Indah tu . Eh, you know something, the more I explore Bukit Indah, lagi banyak areas yg I find quite interesting to photograph. Selama ni tak notice pun . Tutorial? Tgh quite busy le dgn work. InsyaAllah akan diusahakan. Eh, ye la. Jom lepak kat Restoran Dalila tu .

jidin ~ Sangat lah saya berterima kasih atas kata2 En.jidin tu. Saya pun mula2 sebenarnya teragak2 jugak nak post these images. Maklum le, longkang is so not appealing in the least bit however important its role is. But I thought the 2nd image has that contradictory that I find interesting.

Nanie ~ Oh my, you think I went down the drain? Eh, no la . I used wide angle lens. Tu yg nampak cam I'm in there. So I totally did not 'get down and dirty' . For further explanation, pls refer to my reply to fique above. Winter Sonata eh? How lovely.... .

cekya ~ Actually, what triggered me to shoot this spot was because of the apparent contradiction, one being the waterways for waste, debris etc (which made me feel all eeky ) and the other a lovely pathway lined with beautifully greeneries (which made me swooned and appreciate His amazing creations). So yeah, in that sense, longkang pun longkang lahhh.... .

ok. i so thought like u went into the drain. hehehe.
silly me.
but it seemed as though u did went into it.
that proves that ur a good photographer.
yep... it gives the winter sonata sort off effect... so sad, but romantic...

Azrul [of naturalmood blogspot] ~ Aduh Azrullll... syiok la baca komen kau..hehe... . Ni yg jadi lagi semangat nih.... Thank you so much for saying so. I've been trying so hard to find that so-called style I can call my own and until now it had been nothing but something illusive to me. Thks again bro .
Never thought I'd say this, and yes, sampah too can be beautiful..hehe.. .

azrul [of zforzzz fotopages} ~ Like in my reply to jidin above, I was a bit skeptical whether or not I should be posting these images since I thought viewers may find them, or at least the no.2 image, as disgusting . But then I thought that's 'real' and nothing is more beautiful than to portray the real thing. Gawd, hope I'm making sense here . Ok la, kira cam tu le how I felt about these images initially. Thks azrul for dropping by and leaving your kind and uplifting comments. Appreciate it bro .

cekya ~ ding dong dang deng.... 12345678.. wohooo.... Entah aper2 la yg aku reply nih... just responding to yours actually...haha.... .
p/s - Hi Cik Nur...

sue ~ Aa'aa... cam dah tak der subject lain ek? Hehe... . Thks Sue for coming by. It is always nice to have someone new here. Come again ya .

zzoux ~ I am humbled bro by your comments. Truly . It felt really nice to receive such encouraging comments from a photographer of your stature whom I admire so much. Thks bro. Really.

Yuddin ~ What's up bro? Hey, thks for the comments . I see that you like the non-coloured versions. Awesome. They do give a differently feel don't they? .
