I was at the Bird Park, with plans to take pictures of birds. Obviously . But then I came across a pack of monkeys. [Err...a 'pack' of monkeys... is that correct? What do one call a group of monkeys?]. I had never before saw so many mummy monkeys with their small babies hanging on tightly to their chests. Naturally I got real excited .
What I did not realise was that I will be capturing these tender moments. I mean, we don't exactly associate monkeys with tenderness. I suppose they are usually viewed as pesky mammals. As I observed their maternal instinct, so loving and caring, I saw glimpses of tenderness that touches my heart. And then I started shooting.

ooph - love these photos. the last two are my very favourites - excellently done. the sharpening is excellent for the fur, just a tad noisy for the face.
i bet the 2nd last photo could win many, many, many competitions - good think you watermarked it!
It's ok Ayu cause I punya silap gak sebab ajak dah last2 minute.. hehehe.. . Yes, Bukit Belacan tu we went. Got a few nice spider shots, I think . A'aa... pegi Bird Park dpt monyet. A total coincidence. Mula2 seram gak sebab ni monyet liar. But then sure monyet2 tu dah biasa dgn kehadiran manusia, so ok la.
Thanks mynn for letting me know your fav. I suppose the last 2 do demonstrate 'Maternal Instinct'. More so the 2nd last I think. And yes, the face was a bit noisy. An area I was a bit lazy to improve on last night.. hehe... .

Hehe... I personally like that one for it's cheekiness. Masa tu monyet2 tu tgh relaks. So the baby monkey released itself from the firm grip of its mother's embace. Pas tu dia panjat atas badan mak dia and main tenyeh2 muka dia dgn jari dia. I found that so adorable.. hehe... .

i think all of the images are well taken, bro. but the clear favorite for me has definitely got to be the last image. simply because there seems to be nothing else that's distracting the emotion being displayed by the young one. seems like you vignetted the image to enhance the emotion there. even if you didn't, the image is a very strong one, depicting the baby feeling absolutely secure in its mother's embrace.
by the way, i can easily tell when you're using your 400d, and when you're using the g6. the colors are different. plus, there's significantly less CA (if at all) with the images from the 400d.

Appreciate the comments Boogey. The editings? Hmm... Secara ringkas, apply lots of vignettings , increase luminousity for selected areas, increase saturations where needed, deepened the image by darkening selective colours. I applied said steps back and forth. Gitu le lebih kurang .

Hi Kichi . Thanks for that encouraging comments. Yes, for that last image, I was totally focussing on the 'emotion' if you will, by eliminating all other surroundings elements. Yes, I did apply vignetting [lots of it too ].
Oh yes, the colours between the 2 are different. 400D's has deeper tones, great colours and less noise too .

Aiyaa... quit being so modest dear. You're good especially when it comes to baby pictures . Geddes' work are eloborate. If you have her budget, I'm sure can do it too. I really like the one you did with the ribbon and the ones on the sofa. They are so nice I actually swoon with 'Oohhhs' and 'Ahhhs' .

That's what I wanted to show here Najib. The sides of monkeys rarely seen, well, at least to me la. Selalunya kita pandang monyet liar tu negatively. Yeah sure they can be very jahat, tapi tu survival, nak cari makan... gitu la kot... . Lagi pun agaknya dah tak der hutan yg berdekatan... kira monyet bandar la ni .
