Yes, they are mine.... those tired eyes... :D
|
|
Yet another experiment I'm afraid . I saw a fantastic eye-shot quite a while ago in an FP page. (For the life of me, I could not remember whose page it was though). I guess that was what prompted me to do these.
I wanted to get as close to my eye ball my Canon G6 would allow. So I maxed the zoom, used the built-in supermacro mode and selected highest resolution. No la, I did not poke my eyes or anything like that. They are fine, thank you .
Ok, so what do you think of my eyes , eh no, my eye-shots ?

Top 10 photos of 2005
|
|
Holla everyone. Yes, I'm back. How have you been? I've only managed to take a sneek peek at some of your FPs and Gawddd !!! there are just so many excellent photos. Imagine my excitement .
So, ok, lets get on with it shall we.
I don’t believe in doing ‘Top 10’s’ actually, but it is fun, is it not? However, mine is more of a self evaluation thingy to see how I’ve fared this past year. What’s more, I think it is good to reflect and see what I’ve learned so far. More so because I’ve spent most of my spare times on photography. And, of course, to share them with you.
Here goes.
No. 10: Bubbles
Posted on: 06-09-05
My most ambitious experiment with guidance from Syed Nasir. Alas, the result was not up to my expectation. But, I really did enjoy doing it .
Learning point: Don’t give up. Try and try and try again and again.
No. 9: The wave

I really can’t explain why I liked this one so much. Could be the 3D-like effect or because of it simplicity.
Learning point: None I suppose except for may be to next time do this kind of shots on bright days.
No. 8: The Bride
Posted on: 23-11-05
An attempt at capturing cherised moments at a wedding of a close friend while having had done only a couple of wedding gigs prior to this one.
Learning point: Capturing that split second moment is so important. Quite unnerving really. Solution? Prepare, prepare and prepare .
No. 7: Nature’s indulgence
Posted on: 26-08-05
One of my early photos taken at the Ampang Reserve Recreational Park. My first successful (I think) attempt in making the water looked smooth.
Learning point: One should read all that one can on the subject/captures one wishes to endeavour. It helps, definitely.
No. 6: Treasure from the sea
Posted on: 16-09-05
I especially love the shell’s texture and colours/shades, the crystal-like sand and the selective focussing.
Learning point: Even the tiniest (and usually unnoticeable) things can be quite beautiful to photograph.
No. 5: Thirst quencher
Posted on: 08-09-05
Taken while waiting for dinner to arrive. Totally unplanned.
Learning points: If one is still learning, like myself, one must attempt to try ‘present’ the most ordinary things in the most interesting way possible. Yes, even while waiting for dinner… haha…
No. 4: She
Posted on: 18-12-05
One of the photos captured in my attempt to steer away (once in a while) from the ‘safe’ stuff. Emotions are hard to capture (and reflect) especially when doing candids in a middle of a market.
Learning point: Got to be brave a bit and jgn malu2 nak shoot but must exercise cautions, of course.
No. 3: Smoke
Posted on: 08-10-05
At first , the main objective was to achieve the one on the left. But I ended up liking the unconverted ones.
Learning points: One will end up discovering interesting cool stuff along the way when experimenting.
No. 2: The view
Posted on: 25-09-05
I’m especially excited about this one because it is just one of those shots that’s different then the usuals ones I’ve taken. This was the result of attempting to capture the twin towers and KL skyline (nite shot) in a different way then those that I’ve seen.
Learning point: Finding new angles is never an exhaustive exercise, I guess .
No. 1: Nature’s force
Posted on: 06-12-05
Definitely one of the most exhilirating shots of 2005 for me . I just can’t describe the feeling when I finally got this particular shot after about 25 trials or so. I suppose lightning, to a certain extent, is quite predictable in terms of its ‘strike frequency’ as I called it. What next? A better lightning shot, InsyaAllah.
Learning points: At times, it is possible to do what was once thought as impossible, even though equipped with just a Canon G6. I suppose the point is to try it first before deducing it to be not doable.
Well folks, those are my top 10 photos for 2005. In summary, I had indeed learned a lot and therefore it is only appropriate to thank each of you for your comments, feedbacks and support. Looking back, I think I had not wasted all the hours I’ve put in to learn this craft. And fun it was too. Here’s to a better 2006 (yeah, I know ni dah February dah… hehe… )
