Ampang Recreational Park - HDR
|
|
Formerly known as Bukit Belacan, this park provided the perfect spot for my next 'exploration' on HDR images. As oppose to my previous entry where the HDR image was to provide me with the extended colour range, this time around I'm exploring what the HDR images can present me in terms of tones and shadows. And to do this I had purposely minimize 'colours' in the images to be merged as I do not want it to distract my trials on said tones and shadows. These images involved some light play as well .
And I simply must thank each and everyone of you who had visited this page and/or commented on the images. THANK YOU . You guys are awesome la...
And here's the latest instalment:
This one has nothing to do with HDR. Been a while since I last stitch so I thought why not .

So ok, this may be, like, the umptheen time you've seen sunset shots . The thing is when I was in Penang, at Batu Ferringhi beach to be exact, I just couldn't resist the beautiful sunset. Who could eh? .

Bottles
|
|
Update: 08-04-2006
Thks you guys for the enquiries. Here's the very simple 'how-to's:
1- For layout, I used a big white paper for surface and background. Some say you can also use cadar tapi you must ensure spotless / stain free la .
2- I placed the layout on a box about paras dada bila duduk. Senang, sambil duduk leh shoot.
3- Hover a study lamp over the objects. Use white light, not yellow. Penting ni.
4- Kalau rajin, pakai tripod but I find it very restricting. Hand held lagi bebas. Unless I want to go for long exposures.
5- Most times I used macro and super macro mode. Hence my objects are usually small. These bottled are no higher then 2 inches. Yes, they are . Of course you can use bigger/normal size bottles but your layout gotta be big la.
6- Lighting effect & settings:
- Using study lamp gives me freedom to move it anywhere and any angle.
- Play around with the positions. Be aware of the shadows. Some say use 2 lamps to effectively eliminate shadows tapi I used one only cause ade satu je kat rumah ni.
- For each positions, set your camera to whatever settings you want depending on the kind of results you're after. My setting ranges from 1/250 to 1/25 with aperture set to lowest.
- No flash was used.
- ISO set to lowest - grain = no good here.
Yes, that's it. Pretty elementary.

My cool new shades
|
|
So what do you think of these? Please do convey your most sincere comments. I have no other avenues on how to better my shots other than from your feedbacks . So I would really appreciate your inputs .
Props: Camera/tripod, mirror, sunglass, black cardboard and study table lamp .
Update 1:
These photos are PS free. They are as is.
The only editings involved were croppings (only image no.2) and some minor noise reductions. Itu pun sebab bila size photo was reduced, noise akan appear, when the original tak der noise pun .
Update 2: How?
~ In a dark room, placed object (sunglass) on mirror horizontally positioned on a narrow box of about a couple of feet in height.
~ Set up tripod (or handheld) at one end of mirror and focus on object. Zoom in if you like.
~ At the opposite end of the mirror (opposite your camera location) place the black cardboard.
~ Now, here's the interesting part, place your study lamp in various positions imaginable until you get the desired reflection of the light/backdrop against the subject. Since it is a study lamp, you can actually swing it all over the object which I think is so cool and convenient .
And... Tadaaaaa.... that's it.
Tips:
1) Ensure no dust on mirror as they'll create horrible 'dirty' look.
2) Ensure room is pitched dark so you'll have better control at lighting.
3) Try as many angles as possible for better result.
4) Try out 'Tungsten' mode in your camera for the cool blue effect. I like this one .
5) Best to use white light and not the yellow bulb.
